(A Band)
Welcome to the wonderful world of Frantic Dogpaddle. We are, as stated above, a band. We live in Melbourne, Australia, and get together to make noises on the weekends, in a garage. We can't stand the question "What sort of stuff do you do?" because we make it all up as we go along. We think it's best if you just hear something. Don't think it's typical of us though.
If you've got this far, you've probably seen mention of the Adopt-A-Song project. What we'd like is about 6 of you folks out there to host a song. The biggest one is about 2 meg. If we split things up then nobody has a huge drain on their bandwidth. Email Mike if you've got a bit of free space on your own web site.
At the moment we have a small stripped down mirror of this whole site at http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Alley/8332/. There's nothing there that isn't here, but I'll bet that it's faster for most of you.
Added Harry Carver the the songs page and made it the featured song. Hooray.
I might get time in the near future to clean up some recordings and add some new mpegs, but as for fresh material, it might be a while. Two-thirds of the band are about to move house. Apparently that's a traumatic experience that ranks right up with the death of a spouse.
Maybe we'll get some seriously angst-ridden songs out of it. Yay!
"Fuckem" is now up on the Songs page. Go grab it, 'cos it's neat.
You may have noticed the layout has changed a little. I hope it's for the best, I really do. Sometimes you just have to cross your fingers and hope, you know?
We have a Featured Song. It's either something we did ages ago that we discovered and thought "there, that aughta keep the little SOBs happy", or it's something we've just done and we're really proud of. In this case, it's the latter: Omar the Dipshit.
Also, Mike finally got his computer into something resembling order, and is remastering some songs from the Utter Utter Crap tape that we put together some time ago. There will be more songs shortly, including Nikolai's It's Hard to Believe They Cause Cancer and his 'George Formby Style' cover of the Nine Inch Nails song Big Man with a Gun.
note from nikolai: Oh, no we won't. we aren't going to release any George Formby/Trent Reznor crossovers unless i can studio-master them. the song mike is referring to was a twenty-second joke i did between takes of something less silly.
Take a look at the site of God Ate My Homework (after you've finished here). 'Secret Asian Man' is a really neat song, and yes, you can download it.
As a side project, I've been thinking of setting up a list of unsigned bands on the web who have free music for download. If you know any nice bands like that, mail us. Please don't send us URLs for pirate MP3 sites, OK? We're not interested. We just want to list bands like us, who give music away (aren't we just so nice?).
A BLAST FROM THE PAST!
Recently uncovered from a tape dug up at Nag-Hammadi, we present for you in MP3 format:
done by nikolai circa 1982.
