Our Songs
You may notice some of the download links are missing. Due to
(astoundingly) demand for these file we've been forced
to take some of them down to preserve our somewhat limited
bandwidth. You'll find a smallish mirror of these page and some
of the MP3s at http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Alley/8332/.
If you've got a spare Meg or two on your web server, email strepsil@very.net and ask
about the Adopt-A-Dogpaddle-Song project.
All the songs you can download are MP3 files. If you're
mystified by such things, go read our brief technical
blurb.
- Harry Carver
One of our long-term goals is to produce a
version of this song that Lisa likes. This is
as close as we've come.

- Fuckem
"A string of samples, forming a collage of
sound that is approaching art. In its closing moments,
the fundamental dichotomy of the song is revealed and the
listener is left with a profound insight into their own
true self-nature. Disturbingly self-referential." -

- Omar the Dipshit
Matt; bass, backing harmonised vocal things and
pressing buttons on the drum machine. Nikolai; guitar and
vocals. This is as close to commercial as we get, so
"Lick it up, baby. Lick. It. Up."

- Mars Buys Lycra
Six minutes of Blues and Cheesy Organ(tm).
A good mellow jam session, this was. One of the rare
songs that Mike wrote. If you like unspeakable
atrocities, download this song.

- Koyaanisqatsi
Our cover of Phillip Glass' tub-thumpin',
shit-kickin' hay-burnin' yeeee-HAW DANG that's
good tune. Matt played drums, the melodica, and
did vocals; nikolai played bass and guitar and did other
vocals. Suffice to say, we 4-tracked it. We're good, but
we're not THAT good.

- Moon
Moon is, quite simply, fucking great.
Matt sings through a great deal of distortion with
Nikolai on guitar.

- Strunk and White
Hard rock with a grammatical chip on its
shoulder. Mike rants, Nikolai plays guitar and Matt does
that Bass thing we love him for. Nikolai wrote this as a
punctuation flame message. It was embellished and
performed by FDP and is now one of our favorite songs. We
really hate bad spelling and punctuation.

- Tintinara
Tintinara is a small town in South Australia we
passed through during our 1996 World Tour of Adelaide. It
inspired this little ballad dedicated to a really dull
place. Mike does that thing that is almost like singing,
Matt plays the guitar for a change and Nikolai whacks
that Bass.

(1.6Mb) - Lyrics
- Nick Cave's Smokes
Conceived, written and
recorded inside of thirty minutes, this is one of our
favorite songs. Matt sings in his best Nick Cave voice
while accompanying himself on the Melodica, Mike actually
plays Bass in a historic debut and Nikolai gets stuck in
to the guitar.
Download (989Kb) - Lyrics
- The Forest (inaudible vocals mix)
A cover of The Cure's 'A
Forest'. We neglected to adjust the mixing desk and lost
the vocals (well, if you know the words, you can almost
make them out at times). Matt wishes to express his
personal hatred for this piece, feeling it is an
uninspired cover. Mike feels it is better than the
original, but he hates The Cure. Nikolai has not
expressed an opinion.

- Andre the Giant has a Posse (Part
Two)
Just a bunch of messing about with instruments
that got out of hand and onto a tape. Every time we sit
down and play it, we just give it another part number.
We're on part 38 or so now. Among the lyrics are such
things as 'Posse', 'Andre' and 'Nobody's recording this,
are they?'
Aside from the usual guitars and the drum machine, a
trumpet makes an appearance, as well as the Vax
purcussion assembly.

Special Stuff
- The Picard Rap
(2.1Mb)
Constructed by Nikolai. Originally an Amiga MOD
file, the Picard Rap has grown quite a bit since it was
first envisioned. The original source is still MOD, but
here it is as an MPEG for the world. An extended remix is
being considered as soon as we fix the Amiga sitting in
the garage.
- Minor Guitar Deity
(194Kb)
Performed by Nikolai in 1982. Recently unearthed
while exploring ancient Aztec ruins for evidence of a
civilisation based upon the early writings of Hunter S.
Thompson.
- Passover
(1Mb)
Passover is the last track on Greatest Hits
Volume 2, and is a moody atmospheric piece by Nikolai.
- Passover B
(2.1Mb)
This version is what happens when Mike gets
bored and has too many samples on his hard drive.
