My partner, Mike, has a copy of the Pears Cyclopaedia as published in 1934. I discovered it recently while searching our bookshelves for books worth selling on eBay. It makes entertaining reading, and I thought that it would be worthwhile to share the highlights with the world. It's an old book and I'd rather not subject it to our flatbed scanner, so I'm going to type in some of the highlights as I have time. I've left in the cross-reference mentions even though not all of them are linked (I may not have typed in the cross-referenced material yet). I have added more descriptive titles to many of the extracts, since they originally had no titles or minimal ones. Occasionally I have added notes in [square brackets]. |
