NoSaNoOs Dominion

Tales of the NoSaNoOs Dominion

Welcome to my Universe..

Several years ago, when I was considering a career as a cartoonist, I found myself in the situation of having the ability to draw characters, but not having anything for them to do. Something like having actors but no sets or script. I took some advice from Matt Howarth (well, and Larry Niven and Isaac Asimov and Robert Heinlein and Frank Herbert and Iain M Banks) and created a future history, a loose sequence of events that I could have my characters wander around it and experience. Seeing as how this was a science fiction thing, I wasn't limited to one planet's worth of cultures; this gave me free reign to do, more or less, anything I damn well pleased. I gave up on cartooning as a career, but the idea of having a universe to play in is, well, a lot of fun.

The NoSaNoOs Encyclopedia
Notes and definitions.

History
A brief description of events which brought about the structure of my future history; essentially, the history of the NoSanNoOs Dominion.

Future History Timeline
Just like the ones that Asimov, Heinlein and Cordwainer Smith had in the fronts of their books; it relates some of my stories to a sequence of future events. It won't appear very cohesive because I just yanked it out of my development directory, and some of the stories mentioned in the timeline have different names, and some of them haven't been written yet. I like to think that if anyone out there wants to write a story in my future history, this might help situate it.

Aliens:
  • Akhaga
    Description of the race.
  • Bythians
FUTURE SEX: Can We Recover From Our Addiction To Monogamy? by Stephen Davis, with channellings by Lyssa Royal. This book is a hoot. They channel alien races, and each one they `interview' is asked "Do you kiss?" and, inevitably, "with tongues?' I thought, "What would they do if they met a race of aliens who weren't peaceful and enlightened?". The Bythians were my first choice. I'm almost tempted to do this with all of my other aliens. It's a great means of exposition.
  • Fexel
In a Vaughn Bode-like attempt to flesh out the details of my future history, I devised a race of aliens, fundamentalist religious maniacs whose cult was centred around a sound. This is the story of their religious leader, Fexel.
  • Maracites
  • Ordinator
  • Jherani
  • Kaelen
  • Narish
  • Tsialo
  • Parkry

Raummir (Planet of the Goths)
The Planet of the Goths, home of the Maracites. I thought my future history was a bit linear, and also the idea that there was only ever one kind of space-ship got a bit boring. As for linearity, well; adding the Maracites to the future-history has kicked a huge dent in the side of it.

Travel Tales
Three stories told from the point of view of a tourist in the alien worlds of my future history. This is a damn good way of expositing, folks.
