"... they usually are about 13-16. They usually dress in something short and black (like black cut-off shorts, or a mini skirt) w/ a Marilyn Manson shirt. They carry lunchboxes, and their accessories include spiked collars, pentagrams, inverted crosses, skulls, etc. They usually wear striped tights, especially black and red. Their makeup looks closer to punk; they wear white makeup, tons of smudged black eyeliner, smeared red or black lipstick, and black nails. Their hair is plain and long, it could be any colour. They claim to be angst ridden hardcore gothers, yet they are always seen hanging around the mall. They listen to Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails. At clubs they have similar reactions as baby goths, yet they try to act jaded and aloof (which really doesn't work)."

"The Lysandra" is a sterotype which befits both the male and female population, and is referred to by its members as "The True Goth" type. The basics or of a very simple and understated nature: Black shirt or T-shirt over a few other layers of clothing; Black jeans; A simple black leather jacket is optional for those cold days; any kind of hair, though the member's natural color is preferred; a general lack of make-up; and generally one or two pieces of jewellery (a necklace coupled with a simple ring, for example). True members of this group usually have little to no connection with the "Goth" scene, as they are very individualistic and prefer the company of their closest friends (generally only one or two) over the faceless massess. Older members (such as myself) are the ones who started wearing Ankh's before they were popularized by that silly game [you know the one ;)]. Often, they hold a great deal of knowledge on the history of the prevalent philosophies and mythologies of Gothicdom, as they share a genuine intellectual interest in these things.
Their dance is as understated as they are; a simple sway that is in harmony with whatever beat is playing, and their tastes in music are wide-ranging: Anything from Ministry to Siouxsie and the Banshees to Alternative rock bands to the Beatles and even fifties bubblegum Pop!
Their favorite drinks are generally soft-drinks, as they have forsaken most means of chemical enhancements in their lives. Some even refuse simple over-the-counter drugs like Aspirin in order to maintain their mental faculties.
Most of all, the "Lysandra" is an individualist who enjoys observing other people in every social context imaginable. The most shocking aspect about them though, is that they are not always Dark and Depressive. They are quite capable of being happy and cheerful, and can even go days, or even weeks on end without wearing a single article of Black cloathing. Don't get me wrong though, these people are also very dark on the inside, just most strive to achieve some form of balance and harmony in their lives (though this balance is usually between Chaos and Order). The "Lysandra" is a case study in extremes. It's that simple. I realize that this definition may seem a little self-contradictory, but that is the way it truly is with members of this sub-group. To outsiders, they are the "Happy-Go-Lucky Goths", but they are capable of being both the darkest, meanest, cruellest people, while at the same time being sweet, kind and generous.
