It Sounded Like Innocent Fun

>Well this seems an innocent parlor game, can anybody join in?

i used to cringe with bowel-cramping fear every time i heard that expression "innocent parlour game". it depends entirely on how innocent you believe "innocent" to be, whose parlour you're in and the rules of the "game". i don't believe that my extreme reaction was unjustified, but i'm not over the experience enough to actually chat idly about it here.

i will say this: it made my dissociation problem worse; there are parts of Croydon Heights that i can no longer visit without collapsing into catatonia on the street; i no longer experience phantom pains in my feet. i have learned to walk, in a fashion, with the prosthetics. i keep telling myself i'm a writer, i do most of my work sitting at my PC, and i don't need to be that mobile.

still, i will never again play "footsies". and i am a lot harder to tickle.
