Accelerated Prayer Wheels
> With the amazing new Prayer Wheel/Exercycle Gary was into that sort of thing. My mother used to work for Dr Gustav Nossal, of the Walter And Eliza Hall institute; Sir Gus once gave her a Tibetan prayer wheel that he'd been given, and she gave it to me, and I gave it to Gary. He was fascinated; he took it apart and copied out the inscription that was written using those strange characters that are all joined along the top, several times. He even connected the prayer wheel to the turntable of his record player. When he started working for WEHI himself, he got to play with their high-speed centrifuges, and you can imagine what he did. He was doing it one evening when (according to the other lab technician there) a soft white glow appeared, expanded to fill the room, and when it was gone, so was Gary. Ah well. |
